Stand up Ju-Jitsu and Bjj are included in the class for self defence & an MMA angle. These are graded in controled, though realistic multiple attack sessions.

Personal training and small group training is available by appointment. The age limit for these classes generally begins at 14, athough exceptions have been made.

You can start with Semi-Contact competition, these are generally held every 8 – 10 weeks either at our centre, in Wollongong or in Sydney. They are promoted as a fun day, though still giving the fighter a realistic taste of controlled competition. If you’re looking for the ultimate, personal test of skill in combat and reaching unparalleled fitness levels, Full Contact Competition is a regular option. Those who qualify can join our fighter’s class, have special membership options and receive personal tuition and an opertunity to compete in our own local Total Havoc shows, and many other full contact promotions.

GRADINGS

The Ranking system is a very important aspect of all Martial Arts, giving the instructor and Association an accurate knowledge of the students experience and progression. This determines their position in the class and gives each student clear goals  for perfecting each Grade. It also assists in the matching of suitable opponents in competition. Adult gradings are held every two months, though a student can only grade every 4 months providing they are training a minimum of twice per week. The wearing of belts for adults is not compulsory untill black belt, though a student’s does have to wear an coloured arm band during class.

Depending on the progression of the group or person, every student is assessed on their individual skill & dedication, physical disadvantages and age are taken into account, the instructor may then base a decision on the students understanding of the task being attempted.

BELTS – Coloured arm bands are worn in this class, not belts, unless you chose to. A Black belt is still awarded at that grade.

More About Kickboxing

Kickboxing was created in the early seventies, by mixing foot techniques from Karate and fist techniques of boxing. There are four different types of combat competitions: Semi-Contact, Light Contact, Full Contact and Low Kick. All these systems are the same worldwide.

Kickboxing has been influenced by a combination of Muay Thai and other Martian Arts including Karate and Boxing. Kickboxing is fairly new to the Western World and only about 30 years old compared with boxing which is around 200 years old.

  • Kickboxing is a combat sport: we use feet and fist obeying precise rules
  • A true sport: technical knowledge, a good physical condition, tactical intelligence, ethic qualities, agility and a lot of will are required.
  • A safe sport: to minimize the risk of injury the competitors are forced to wear protection for feet and head, shin guards, safety gloves, mouth guards, groin guards for men and chest guards for women.
  • A modern sport: developed following the latest knowledge in sports medicine and still open to innovation and research

Muay Thai is the ancient fighting art of Thailand. Its history spans over 2000 years. In these early years, hip throws and groin kicks were legal, Hands were even bandaged in hemp rope and then dipped in glue and glass, the last man standing was invariably the winner.

Muay Thai has continued to evolve, change and adapt with society. In 1929 gloves were introduced. After World War ll, the rules were finalized into today’s form which is now standardized and professional

Muay Thai contests were divided into five, three minute rounds with two minutes intervals between the rounds. In full Muay Thai rules, fighters can employ the eight weapons of Muay Thai, knees, elbows, fist and feet unheeded.
